This trip will be led by Jerry Bird and will focus on fall migrants to Cherry Creek in the Gila National Forest. Hiking will be easy to  moderate over a good trail along Cherry Creek. The hike will probably be about 1.5 miles in length and there is a moderate change in elevation along the creek trail. Restroom facilities are available at the campground.

October 2, 2020 Gila River Bird Habitat Area

This trip will explore the woods along the Gila River south of Bill Evans Lake. Walking can be a little rough – trails are not well defined. We will also be birding along the gravel road leading to the birding area. If time permits, we will stop at Bill Evans Lake and Mangas Springs on the way home. We should return in the early afternoon. This site is #20 on the Southwestern New Mexico Birding Trail.

Meet at the WNMU Fine Arts building south parking lot at 8 AM. For more information call Jerry Bird at 575 534 4940.
